Code of Community
The outdoors is for everyone. The people you meet while recreating in the Superior National Forest or on one of our guided trips may be young, old, conservative, liberal, Black, White, gay, straight, trans, religious or secular. English may not be their first language. They may have been brought up in a high- or a low-income family. They may have different abilities from you. This may be their first time camping or canoeing. Everyone will have shared experiences with you and everyone will have different experiences from you. Respect and kindness for all are mandatory on our canoe trips. Please take the opportunity to connect with new people over shared interests and experiences and also to learn from those who may be different from you.
At Border Lakes Tour Company (BLTC), we are dedicated to fostering a culture of equity and inclusivity, embracing individuals from all walks of life. We do not discriminate based on race, age, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, or background. Our commitment is unwavering – everyone is welcome. We constantly seek to grow in our capacity to serve those of different abilities and diverse backgrounds.
BLTC is committed to our community. Our goal is to create an environment where all individuals, regardless of their identity, feel valued, respected, and included. To promote safety and comfort for all, we ask individuals to act respectfully at all times when they are on our property or participating in our programs, behave in a mature and responsible way, and respect the rights and dignity of others.
As a BLTC guest, you agree to refrain from:
• wearing inappropriate attire
• angry or vulgar language including swearing, name-calling or shouting
• physical contact with another person in any angry or threatening way
• any demonstration of sexual activity or sexual contact with another person
• harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language or any other menacing behavior
• theft or behavior which results in the destruction of property or the natural environment
• carrying or concealing any weapons or devices or objects which may be used as weapons
• using or possessing illegal chemicals, THC products, tobacco or alcohol while on our trips

Respectful Behavior Policy for BLTC:
Disrespectful behavior towards other guests, guides, other outdoor recreationalists or wildlife is inexcusable, and we have a firm policy against all types of bullying or harassment. Each guest is expected to treat all other guests with respect, and to help each other achieve the best possible experience. Failure to meet BLTC’s standards of respectful behavior without changing actions will result in dismissal of the guest.
BLTC reserves the right to dismiss any guest who does not follow the behavior expectations as outlined above or otherwise participates in creating an unwelcoming or unsafe experience. In the event that a guest is dismissed, there will be no refund. Your help in upholding this Code of Community contributes to the success of BLTC and to everyone’s experience with us.
