Mike Bartz

Mike is the owner and head guide of Border Lakes Tour Company.

Mike is a retired DNR conservation officer who has spent over 50 years adventuring in the outdoors with  wilderness canoe camping, hiking, snowshoeing and XC skiing.  Many of those years have been in the border lakes region of Cook County, MN.

He is experienced in wilderness travel and is ACA (American Canoe Association) certified in whitewater canoe, level 2 kayak touring as well as NOLS (Nat'l Outdoor Leadership School) wilderness first-aid.  He has EMT and ambulance crew experience.

Mike is at home in the bush and he will make sure that your trip is safe, enjoyable and educational.  His engaging personality, experience and common sense will ensure your trip is a success.

Mike knows where the best of the best "off the beaten path" places are  - and he'll happily share those places with you!

Mark

Mark has camped and fished most of his life, in all seasons.  He has guided all ages from scout troops to seniors.  Mark enjoys passing on skills and knowledge, and introducing folks to the wilderness.

Mark and his wife recently relocated to Grand Marais to be closer to the lakes and rivers they love.  Mark has guided trips into the Boundary Waters from both the Ely and the Gunflint Trail areas.

Beth

Beth has been canoeing in the Boundary Waters since high school.  After living in and exploring the southwest for many years, she moved to Cook County 21 years ago and married her canoe outfitter.

Beth has led backpacking, canoeing and kayaking adventures all over the country.    However, her favorite place in the world is right here in the Arrowhead Region:  Little Saganaga Lake in the early fall.
